About this policy
This privacy policy explains how Risdon Automation Services ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects any personal information you provide when using our website or contacting us about our services.
We're committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Risdon Automation Services is a sole trader business based in Devon, United Kingdom. For any questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, contact us at hello@risdonautomation.com.
What data we collect
We only collect data you actively give us. Specifically:
- Contact form submissions: your name, email address, company name (optional), and the message you send us.
- Email correspondence: if you email us directly, we'll have the contents of that email along with your email address.
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers on this site.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our site (which pages are popular, how people find us, what devices they use). Cloudflare Web Analytics is a privacy-first analytics tool: it doesn't use cookies and it doesn't track individual visitors across sites. No personal data is collected or stored.
You can read more about how Cloudflare handles this data at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy .
Why we collect it
We use your data only for the following purposes:
- To respond to your enquiry or provide the services you've asked about
- To send you information you've requested
- To keep records of our business communications
The legal basis for processing your data is legitimate interest (responding to enquiries from potential clients) and, where applicable, contract performance (providing the services you've engaged us for).
How long we keep it
We keep contact form submissions and email correspondence for up to 2 years after our last interaction with you, unless:
- You've become a client, in which case we keep records for as long as needed to provide our services plus any legally required retention period (typically 6 years for financial records)
- You ask us to delete your data sooner (see "Your rights" below)
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data to anyone. We use a small number of third-party tools to run the business, and your data may pass through them:
- Google Workspace — to host our email. Protected by Google's data protection terms.
- Cloudflare — to host this website and handle form submissions.
- n8n (self-hosted) — the automation platform that processes contact form submissions. Runs on our own infrastructure.
We may also share your data if legally required to do so (for example, in response to a court order).
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers located in the United Kingdom and European Union, with the exception of Google Workspace email, which may involve transfers to the United States under standard contractual clauses approved by the UK government.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your data (the "right to be forgotten")
- Object to how we process your data
- Restrict how we use your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@risdonautomation.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Phone: 0303 123 1113
